Why the interest in vehicle tracking?

I wonder if this is a new phenomena but everywhere, people are looking for vehicle tracking. Some of them are justified like companies taking care of their inventories and logistics. So, things like gps fleet tracking is big business.

But what if everyone starts to take an interest into vehicle tracking? Then, wives will be tracking husbands, parents tracking children and stalkers tracking their favourite bloggers? Hehehe.
