Toys - Is there ever too many of them?

I am doing a little bit of spring cleaning today and discarded many broken toys belonging to my older children. However, after picking out those that they are not likely to play with, I still have a few buckets of toy action figurines. However, with each child, they have different action figurine. The older sons toys are not attractive to the youngest one.

So, we have to keep buying newer ones for the younger children. In the end, we accumulate several boxes of toys again.
